Name and description of the product/service developed

A white labelled community platform designed for a non-technical personnel. The platform helps communities to collaborate and support each other, as well as turning the community into a complete marketplace.

Description of the activity funded by the GX Innovation grant

The GX Innovation grant will be used to complete the build of the platform and include innovative developments that will benefit our clients.

Premier Teachers

Name and description of the product/service developed

An education recruitment platform and App which allows schools and education staff to connect directly.

Description of the activity funded by the GX Innovation grant

The grant will support the development of this highly innovative education platform and App including: a job board with smart matching candidates when roles are added and candidates alerted to matching jobs, a highly specialised search facility on post code by schools for staff, and a mobile App to enable schools to directly book staff by push notifications, online profiles for education staff and auto-completion of application forms.

Meditrics

Name and description of the product/service developed

Meditrics has been set up to develop the software and hand held scanner required by the medical profession to effectively screen for Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH).

Description of the activity funded by the GX Innovation grant

This grant application is to enable the development of the proof of concept software model that would underpin a hand-held scanner which uses AI to interpret and identify abnormalities in hip USS during the initial selective screening for Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH).

This aims to reduce the burden of following up for false positive cases, i.e. normal scans that are unnecessarily escalated for further investigation, provide streamlining to specialist referral pathways for clearly abnormal results. Most importantly it would improve the accuracy of positively selected cases for further specialist imaging and therefore reduce the incidence of late detection. The company is working collaboratively with a healthcare imaging device manufacturer to develop this unit.

Transmit Start Ups

Name and description of the product/service developed

A chatbot using Artificial General Intelligence to improve the efficiency and productivity of SMEs, turning them into 24/7 operations.

Description of the activity funded by the GX Innovation grant

Following extensive research Transmit Start Ups is using this grant to develop the first iteration of the chatbot, to be used by Transmit initially, before rolling out to clients.

Sunderland Culture

Name and description of the product/service developed

Art Crush is a new art based app which enables the user to quickly and easily swipe through artworks from the Arts Council Collection to discover what kind of art they like.

Description of the activity funded by the GX Innovation grant

We aim to launch Art Crush in June 2019, and work to date includes discussions with Arts Council Collection and approval of the project brief along with a development/ consultation period with Digital Catapult. Scoping sessions have brought together Sunderland Culture’s artistic and curatorial expertise with Sunderland Software City’s technical and marketing expertise. The GX Innovation Grant will support with the development of the product by a regional app developer.

Mavin Informatics

Name and description of the product/service developed

mi-SOS.org: A personal digital identity system and wearable, to improve patient safety and time for communication of medical needs in case of emergency.

Description of the activity funded by the GX Innovation grant

The grant will support the development of a website, Facebook and Amazon shop with bespoke software to bridge mi-SOS.org system account subscriptions of multiple personal profiles to allow widespread online purchase of individual profile wearables.

Hexis Lab

Name and description of the product/service developed

A GDPR compliant mobile app application for skin health diagnosis analysis and product recommendation.

Description of the activity funded by the GX Innovation grant

The grant supports the development and build of app functionality utilising Artificial Intelligence tools. This will include the development of use case and architecture and consumer journey, implementation, and evaluation of content distribution system mobile ios/android platform, creation and deployment of services (subscription-based services & retail services), integration of visualisation of analytical data of the test results, testing of user engagement and deployment of experimental subscription testbed on ios/android and dissemination of the services to consumers & directly to the public.

Able2Fly

Name and description of the product/service developed

Able2fly are improving accessible travel through their online platform that helps airports manage the delivery of services to passengers whose mobility is restricted due to disability or age.

Description of the activity funded by the GX Innovation grant

The GX support will transform the service from a “bootstrap low-code solution” to a professionally hosted and managed online services facilitating a number of enhancements including integration with third party systems to improve the quality of data to the airport, leading to an improved passenger experience.
