Stephenson’s Rocket comes home to Newcastle as part of Great Exhibition of the North.

Robert Stephenson's Rocket

Robert Stephenson’s iconic locomotive Rocket will come home to Newcastle, on loan to Discovery Museum from the Science Museum Group as part of the Great Exhibition of the North.

Find out how this historic engine’s ground-breaking design heralded the birth of passenger railways and celebrate the region’s world-famous industrial heritage.

This exciting exhibit has been made possible thanks to money raised by National Lottery players through the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).

It’s Rocket Science is a ticketed free event, which includes entry to the premium viewing area and exhibition. During the opening weekend (Friday 22 – Sunday 24 June) visitors must have a ticket to enter the museum. From Monday 25 June all visitors are welcome, but only ticket holders will get premium access to Stephenson’s Rocket.

Experience Rocket in your own home.

Using augmented reality, Northern tech masters hedgehog lab have recreated a fully immersive and memorable experience of the original Rocket.
