The T-Shirt: Cult | Culture | Subversion is an insight into the history and culture of the most ubiquitous, affordable and popular garment of the last 50 years. Over the years the t-shirt has as a means to broadcast social, musical and political passions and most recently become a creative tool for expressing innovative design.
The exhibition explores each of these incarnations of this everyday item. Spanning over 50 years and featuring rare and ground-
breaking examples, the exhibition includes exceptional surviving pieces customised by Westwood and McLaren in the 1970’s, alongside classic designs from the archives of artists, musicians, collectors and designers
The exhibition has been curated in collaboration with the Fashion and Textile Museum, London and Jenna Rossi-Camus.
