Picnic Cinema have carved out a cult following for their ‘cinema parties’ over the past 6 years, taking picnickers to iconic locations across the North of England. Their 2018 season is packed with cult classic movies and off beat film choices across the north of England.

Far more than an outdoor cinema, Picnic Cinema have been taking film lovers to iconic locations including castles, forests and national trust properties over the years, with the full Picnic Cinema experience including dressing up, camping over, and letting your hair down with fun and games before the film, music, dancing and many more surprises. Coinciding with Crafty Vintage’s weekend fair on 4th August they are at Lowther Castle with a screening of Sightseers (15). This dark comedy follows Chris, who shows his girlfriend some of his favourite sights in the north of England. Events soon conspire against the couple and their dream caravan holiday takes a very nasty turn. Some familiar locations feature in the film, including Keswick’s Pencil Museum, Long Meg & her Daughters and Honister Slate Mine. Enjoy the Craft and Vintage Market in the day, complete with street food, bar, vintage clothes, handmade gifts and more, before pitching tents and dressing up in your finest fair isle jumpers.

Lowther Castle gardens, the castle ruins, the lost castle, the café, the exhibition, shop and loos are all accessible by wheelchair. The cinema site is on a lawned area accessed via a grassy ramp.
