Explore Yorkshire’s cultural heritage through 50 great paintings from our collection. Enjoy top favourites such as Atkinson Grimshaw’s Silver Moonlight plus new work by Jake Attree and Fred Lawson’s paintings of Wensleydale life.

This is a major summer art exhibition which puts the best of the Harrogate Fine Art collection in the spotlight. Our aim was to complement the Great Exhibition of the North with a celebration of Yorkshire art, including paintings, prints, photography, drawings and sculpture by artists who have been inspired by Yorkshire, its landscape and, of course, its people.

Artists on show will range from Great Victorians such as Atkinson Grimshaw, painter of moonlight, and William Powell Frith, the people’s painter. Contemporary art is one of our strong threads in Harrogate, especially in photography, with works on show by outstanding Yorkshire photographers Tim Smith, Tessa Bunney and Liza Dracup. The landscape will play a starring role, taking the viewer all around the county, not only over moor and dale, but into the heart of urban and industrial Yorkshire.
