Heaton! In this multimedia production of drama, film, music and dance the lives and achievements of pioneers from Heaton are intertwined with the love affair between time travelling fictional couple Freddie and Catherine.

Heaton! where Charles Parsons developed the steam turbine giving the world cheap electricity; where social reformer Florence Nightingale Harrison-Bell campaigned for women’s rights; the birthplace of Ove Arup who built Sydney Opera House; where suffragettes set fire to Heaton Park Bowling Green Pavilion;home of Colin Veitch, Newcastle United’s most successful Captain and co-founder of the People’s Theatre and where today the Freeman Hospital is at the cutting edge of medical technology and in this production the lives and achievements of these pioneers are intertwined with the love affair between time travelling fictional couple Freddie and Catherine. There will also be a Heaton! exhibition in the newly refurbished foyer and gallery space including art from local children developed in workshops carried out in local schools by the project team. There will also be music sessions by local bands and choirs held in the gallery each night after the production.
