Artistory

Artistory banner image

An art and feasting collaboration that seeks to celebrate the stories of those who live and work in Shieldfield and question the roles of host and guest. Our growing exhibition and visual collection of feasting and eating will tell Shieldfield and Newcastle’s stories through recipes and food.

Throughout Artistory we’ll be hosting events which invite you to cook, eat and explore the stories of Shieldfield. Our growing exhibition and visual collection of feasting and eating will tell Shieldfield and Newcastle’s stories through recipes and food, as well as exploring the roles of guest and host. Documentation of events will be added to the exhibition as we feast our way through the project. The project will be shaped by those who participate, we are running a variety of events and workshops alongside the exhibition, and everyone is welcome to join in. Activities will include recipe sharing, bread making and jamming (fruity and musical varieties). Artistory will culminate in a bring and share dinner; a free celebration of the recipes and stories that we have shared together. We invite each guest to contribute your favourite dish of food to be shared together. Across the course of the dinner, there will also be opportunity to contribute your recipes, stories and memories associated with the particular foods you have brought to a collaboratively created bunting.

The full programme is on our website, all events are free but some need booking in advance
