AIR at the Cathedral is an exhibition by Artists In Recovery. The exhibition of painting, sculpture, design and digital art comes from 14 artists who are in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction and is set throughout the 900 year old Cathedral.

Artists In Recovery curates exhibitions featuring the work of artists recovering from addiction and promotes abstinence based 12 step recovery. It is a not for profit company run by unpaid volunteers. The North East has one of the highest rates of drug and alcohol addiction and death or serious illness caused by drug and alcohol addiction in the UK. The area also has a thriving recovery community. The exhibition is a testament to wealth of creativity and talent within the recovery community and includes a film in which the artists discuss the relationship between their art and their recovery from addiction.
