GX Grants scheme
The GX Project builds on the fantastic platform created by the Great Exhibition of the North to promote the region and boost innovation-led economic growth.
Are you a local SME with a project to develop a new product or service and looking for funding? Our innovation grant scheme could be for you if your project is developed enough and you are able to put some of your own funding into it too.
We will be focussing on supporting companies operating in one of regional smart specialisation sectors and areas of opportunities: Passenger vehicle manufacture; Subsea and Offshore Energy, Life Sciences and Health; Creative, Digital, Software and Technology based services, Health innovation, business information modelling and immersive technologies.
Please read our guidance for eligibility criteria, what can be funded and details on what information you need to provide before making a start.
Please note that project delivery will be limited to 3 months for a start date between April and May 2019. We encourage applications from:
– Passenger Vehicle Manufacturing, Subsea and Offshore Energy and Life Sciences and Health sectors
– Businesses located in Sunderland, South Tyneside, Northumberland and Durham
You will need to go through a 2-stage process: complete a short Expression of Interest (EOI) first and if successful you will be invited to complete a more detailed application so that we can assess if your project can receive funding from the ERDF GX Project.
The deadline for the first wave of Expressions of Interest is Friday 15 February at 5:00pm and the following stages are scheduled as follows:
– Notification of outcome to applicants: 27 February 2019
– Deadline for submitting full applications: 20 March 2019
– Notification of outcome to applicants: 27 March 2019
– Start of the project: from 1 April to 31 May 2019
– Completion between: 30 June and 31 August 2018
Please contact a member of the GX team at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any queries.
If you are specifically interested in getting research and development support from a Research Institution, please go to the Collaborate section. This GX project strand will provide funding directly to the Research Institution to work with SMEs.
